The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued weather updates for the coming days warning that Nagaland would experience heavy rainfall in almost all districts from August 5 to 9.
According to the NSDMA, Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Wokha, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, and Tuensang are expected to receive intense showers on August 7 and 8, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in some localized areas.
The NSDMA stated that during this period, intermittent rainfall is expected in all districts of Nagaland and advised the general public to take necessary measures, including avoiding lightning strikes and high winds, which can disrupt communication and connectivity.
It further stated that Nagaland’s lowland and foothill districts including Dimpaur, Nuiland. Chumukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit and Tuli are vulnerable to inundated water logging and flash floods due to the possibility of excessive precipitation in the hill sector.

In this regard, NSDMA, Home Department urged the public lo exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period. The NSDMA also requested all the District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season.
