The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department has issued a weather advisory warning of unsettled conditions across Nagaland from March 31 to April 3, 2026.
According to the advisory, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, moderate to heavy rainfall, and gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph are likely to occur at isolated to scattered locations across the state during the forecast period.
Districts including Dimapur, Kohima, Wokha, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Kiphire, Longleng, Peren and Phek are expected to experience thunderstorms with lightning and strong surface winds, particularly on March 31 and April 1. Similar weather conditions are also likely in Chümoukedima, Mon, Niuland and Tseminyu during the same period.
The NSDMA cautioned that heavy rainfall and strong winds may lead to poor visibility, temporary traffic disruptions due to waterlogging, uprooting of trees, and damage to vulnerable structures. There is also a possibility of disruption to power and communication lines, along with the risk of landslides in vulnerable areas and lightning-related hazards to people and livestock.
The advisory further noted that standing crops and horticultural produce may be adversely affected. Farmers have been advised to take necessary precautionary measures to safeguard crops, livestock and agricultural infrastructure.
