The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has proposed the establishment of a separate and independent Inner Line Permit (ILP) Commission “dedicated to enforcing a comprehensive and robust system to monitor and manage entries into Nagaland”.
In a Representation to the Chief Secretary, Nagaland, the NSF recommended that such a commission be set up within a six-month timeframe, in close consultation with all relevant stakeholders, to ensure a collaborative and sustainable approach.
The Federation’s President Medovi Rhi and General Secretary Chumben Khuvung stated that besides working in coordination with local and regional authorities to address the issue at its core, the ILP Commission “should also facilitate greater community involvement in monitoring and reporting, providing the commission with timely insights to enhance its operational effectiveness.”
Further, the NSF stated its confidence that the proposed Commission will enable stringent enforcement of IPL regulations, empower village councils to prevent unauthorized adoption into local communities and enhance community vigilance and collaboration with law enforcement.
