The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has expressed it condemnation of the murder of M Lucy Marem of Beaularham Village, Chandel district in Manipur.

57 years old Marem who was from the Maring Naga community in Manipur was killed on 15 July 2023 allegedly after the Meira Paibis handed her over to the Arambai Tenggol group, according to United Naga Council (UNC).

The NSF questioned the intentions of the two organisations behind the “cowardly act perpetrated upon our harmless mother”. It further said that the act speaks of how the perpetrators have “systematically planned the ongoing ethnic violence in the state.”

The Federation demanded that “befitting actions are initiated against the perpetrators’ of the dastardly act by the authorities concerned as demanded by the United Naga Council and other Naga organizations.”

The Manipur Police on Monday informed that five women and four men have been arrested in M Lucy Marem’s murder case. It also said that firearms were recovered from the arrested individuals.
