NSLSA’s Best Performance Award 2025 ceremony held

Nagaland State Legal Services Authority today held the commendation ceremony for Best Performance Award for the year 2025 to Panel Lawyer, Legal Aid Defense Counsel & Para Legal Volunteer at Japfü Hotel, Kohima.

The awards were handed over by NSLSA Member Secretary, Neiko Akami, NJS, informed a press release by the PRA, NSLSA.

The Best Performance for the Year 2025, Panel Lawyer was awarded to Sunjib Rana, Retainer Lawyer, Kohima DLSA for his dedication and service towards ensuring access to justice for all as a Lawyer under Kohima DLSA. “As a Retainer Lawyer, Rana has demonstrated the core values of the Legal Services Authority—commitment, compassion, and competence—by providing quality legal aid and upholding the rights of the marginalized and underprivileged by disposing multiple cases through mediation; creating legal awareness and providing legal expertise to masses,” informed the press release.

The Best Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) was awarded to Yingli A Kiekung, a PLV under Longleng DLSA, the Certificate of Best Performance for the Year 2025- Para Legal Volunteer for his service, empathy, dedication, and awareness—by acting as a vital link between the community and the justice delivery system.

According to the NSLSA, Kiekung assisted in organizing legal awareness programme in Longleng, providing counselling to sexually assaulted victims for availing Victim Compensation and counselling to loan defaulters to settle bank cases among others.

The Best Legal Aid Defense Counsel was awarded to Sentimenla, Deputy Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Dimapur in recognition of her service and profession in the delivery of legal aid under the Legal Aid Defense Counsel System (LADCS) in Dimapur. She took up more than 100 legal aid Court based cases out of which more than 50 percent were disposed off.

The winners were given Certificate and cash prizes. The Winners of National Photography & Art titled “Justice for All: Through the Lens of Legal Aid”organized by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority to commemorate 30 years of National Legal Services Day, 2025 in October 2025 were also given certificates and cash prizes. The winners were Kiphire DLSA (documentary- 1st prize); Alopeni, Grace Higher Secondary School, Kohima (art- 2nd position) and Laxmi, Rüzhükhrie Higher Secondary School, Kohima (Art- 3rd Position).
