NSMDC chairman Kuputo Shohe and team at Wazeho Mini Cement Plant in Phek District on 25 April 2023.

Chairman of Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (NSMDC), Kuputo Shohe in his maiden visit to the Wazeho Mini Cement Plant, Phek District on Tuesday, inspected the plant and the Dimensional & Decorative Stone Plant manufacturing factories and offices along with officials and staff of the corporation.

Shohe shared his hopes and aspirations to revive the mini cement plant with the cooperation and unity of the Corporate.

“Cooperation is to earn and help the govt and not otherwise, ours should be a revenue generating corporation,” he retorted while encouraging the villagers and the workers to give their cooperation to make the mini cement plant one of the biggest income earning corporations in the state.

“Our corporation should work like working in a private company,” Shohe stated. Chairman also apprised the expectant gathering that the corporation have already invited investors from outside the state to take hold of the stake in order to revive the cement plant.

He also mentioned plans to upgrade the manufacture of the Hollow Bricks and that in order to assist the community of Wazeho and its neighbouring areas, the Hollow Bricks will be supplied at subsidised rates.

Adding more, the chairman announced that in a period of three months, the NSMDC will provide their best services and will start giving their revenue to the govt.

In conclusion, Shohe encouraged and directed the Dimensional and Decorative Stone Plants of Mineral Industry Growth Centre (MIGC) to improvise and expedite the process of production.

While stressing on marketing the sale of products, he encouraged the officials and workers of Kiruphema Unit to expedite their production and sales to work collectively to give revenue to the government.

Mention may be made of the abundance of raw materials at the Wazeho with 3.5 million metric tons mineral deposits, higher quality of raw materials for high quality cement and plentitude of labourers, to generate moderate returns/revenue for the state. However, one of the foremost serious issues for the failure of the successful implementation of the mini plant is mainly due to the lack of pliable road condition.

Chairman NSMDC, Kuputo Shohe also called upon the GBs and chairman of Wazeho village and members of NSMDC workers union during his visit, and during the formal programme, he expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for rendering the responsibility to head the NSMDC Corporation.
