The Naga Students’ Union Punjab (NSUP) has issued an urgent advisory calling on all Naga residents in Punjab, including students, working professionals, and short-term visitors, to register with the Union at the earliest. The Union announced that both offline and online registration portals are now open and accessible via its official social media pages on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), as well as WhatsApp.
Highlighting the importance of timely registration, the NSUP emphasized that it is not merely a formality but a crucial safety mechanism.
Citing challenges faced during previous crises such as the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 and the recent India-Pakistan conflict escalation in April–May 2025, the Union pointed out that lack of identity details and contact information had severely hampered its ability to reach and assist unregistered individuals.
“These are not hypotheticals, but lived realities where some of our Naga brothers and sisters remained unreachable and unsupported simply because they are not registered,” the NSUP stated.
It said registering with the Union is not a mere formality but a vital step that carries weight far beyond numbers, and maintaining an updated and comprehensive statistical record is a matter of collective safety identity, and solidarity when living away from home.

The Union appealed to parents, guardians, elders, student bodies and youth organizations in Nagaland to advice their wards and fellow Nagas heading to or residing in Punjab or any other cities outside Nagaland to register with NSU Punjab and other respective NSU bodies as it would enable them to respond swiftly, to ensure safety checks, to reach out during distress and to represent responsibly when needed most.
It further said student union bodies exists not only for times of crisis, but also for moments of togetherness, celebration and shared support.
For offline registration, the Union provided contact numbers of key office bearers including President Sensen Ilang (8837469376), Vice President (9774276586), General Secretary Nitoli Shohe (9863313014), and the Statistical Secretary (8256927166). It also encouraged online registration via their Instagram handle @nsu_punjab and X (formerly Twitter) handle @NsupOfficial.
