NU announces one-time relaxation for 2nd and 3rd Sem; ANSCU welcomes move

Lumami: University to undertake moderation of 2nd Sem Results as special case

The Nagaland University (NU) has announced a one-time relaxation for 2nd and 3rd Semester Undergraduate programmes under which the students will be allowed to progress to the 4th and 5th Semester respectively with maximum three backlogs. The University has also informed that the it has resolved to undertake moderation of the 2nd Semester Results as a special case.

In a notification issued on 24th July 2024, the Nagaland University stated that the decisions were taken after due examination of the letters submitted by the Nagaland College Principals’ Association (NCPA) and the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU).

“The special moderation and one-time relaxation of progression criterion are permitted in view of Even Semester examination 2024 being the first examination conducted with external evaluation post implementation of NEP 2020 and as such these measures should not be treated as a precedent in the future”, the notification stated.

Meanwhile, the ANSCU, welcoming the decision, stated “The ANCSU extends our appreciation to the Nagaland University for understanding the grievances of students and promptly resolving the matters in the best interest of students, permitting advancement of students to the subsequent semester i.e. 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 5th Semester with maximum 3 backlogs as a one-time special consideration.”

The Union stated that this “noble consideration has reaffirmed that the welfare of the students and colleges fraternity is prioritized” and also appealed the student’s fraternity to be more sincere and cautious of this new policy.
