By integrating theory with practical engagement, the course is designed to build a dedicated cadre of professionals and changemakers who can contribute meaningfully to rural development, governance, and sustainable livelihood initiatives in Nagaland and beyond.

With over 70% of Nagaland’s population residing in rural areas, the importance of planned rural transformation has never been more critical. The newly launched programmes will offer students an in-depth understanding of rural economy, governance, social dynamics, natural resource management, and the planning and execution of development schemes.

According to the university, the key features of the programmes include interdisciplinary curriculum blending theory with field-based learning, focus on planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of rural development initiatives, strong career pathways in government, NGOs, academia, and entrepreneurship, and opportunity to contribute directly to the development of tribal and rural communities.

Eligibility for the PG programme includes graduates in B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., BBA (excluding language subjects) with a minimum of 50% marks. Relaxation will be provided for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates. Students from colleges affiliated to Nagaland University will be given a 10% bonus weightage. The intake capacity is 20 seats.

Applications will be accepted from July 1-20, and entrance test will be conducted on July 28 for non-CUET candidates.
