The Department of Geology, Nagaland University Kohima campus donated rock and mineral samples to the directorate of Art and Culture for display in the State Museum, Kohima. The handing over was carried out by Prof. Vikoleno Rino (HoD), Dr. Temsulemba Walling, and staff members of the Department of Geology to the director in the presence of senior officials in the State Museum.
The donation included a variety of rock types, including igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks, besides important economic minerals like magnetite, chromite, hematite, limestone, and coal, etc, that were collected from different parts of the state.
Director Art and Culture Adela Moa, while expressing her gratitude to the NU Department of Geology for their dedication in collecting the rock samples and contributing them to the museum stated that the donated specimens will enhance and add value to the museum’s diverse collection and would be very informative and educational for the visitors, especially the students.
