Nagaland University’s Department of Geography conducted a two-day national seminar on “Application of Geospatial Techniques for Environmental Sustainability in Northeast India on 17-18 March 2025.
The keynote address on the topic “Application of Geospatial Technology for Effective Sustainable Development Strategies” was delivered by Prof. B.S. Mipun, who retired as Professor from NEHU and currently serving as the Dean, RSEES & DSW at the Assam Royal Global University. He stressed that geospatial technology, a powerful tool, has immensely helped in monitoring the environment efficiently.
Prof. D.K Nayak who also retired as Professor from NEHU and currently serving as Professor at the Assam Royal Global University delivered an invited speech in the technical session on the topic “The Road to Sustainable Development: Limits to Geospatial Technology”. He emphasized that geospatial technology has indeed revolutionized the path to a sustainable future.
The Chief Patron for the seminar was Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, the Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, stated Peter Ki, PRO, NU, in a press release.
A total of 32 presentations were made over the course of two days. There were 90 participants from across the country who took part either in offline and online mode.
