NVD 2025 celebrated at Wokha; DC & DEO acknowledges efforts of election officers

Wokha District celebrated National Voters Day on 25th January 2025 at the Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall, under the theme: “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure”.

In his keynote address, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Vineet Kumar, IAS emphasized the significance of this event. He highlighted the contrast between India’s democratic system and the political regimes in neighbouring countries, where citizens do not have the privilege of voting to elect their leaders. He also stressed the importance of every voter, particularly the newly enrolled young voters, in taking responsibility for electing their political representatives. He acknowledged the election officers for their efforts in promoting the ideal of equal opportunities for all citizens of India.

During the program, two individuals were awarded as the Best Booth Level Officers: Rentsanthung Yanthan from 37th A/C, PS Niroyo village, and M. Zuchamo Tungoe from 38th A/C, PS Okotso village. Additionally, two newly enrolled young voters, Mhabeni T. Ezung and Oponthung Jami, were felicitated.

A message from the Chief Election Commissioner was also displayed, while the Additional Deputy Commissioner and Electoral Registration Officer, Wokha, Renbomo Ezung administered the voters’ pledge. The program featured a special song by Sojano Tsopoe and concluded with a vote of thanks by Extra Assistant Commissioner and AEO (i/c), Wokha, Sangmou Khiamniungan.
