Invest India and the Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade in collaboration with the Department of Industries, Nagaland, and Press Information Bureau organized an ODOP (One District One Product) Sampark event at Hotel Vivor, Kohima on Wednesday, DIPR informed.
Development Commissioner, Government of Nagaland, R. Ramakrishnam, IAS while giving the opening remark highlighted that the initiative of this programme is the key proponent of the larger objectives of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Vocal for Local and Make in India. He mentioned that the Prime Minister’s recognition that each district of our country has a potential equal to that of one country is the guiding principle behind the ODOP initiative.
Over 1000 products from various sectors have been identified from the 761 districts of the country for their cultural significance, production capabilities and export potential. The broad objective is to create sustainable development at district level while promoting the holistic socio-economic development of the district. It also aims to foster balanced regional development across all districts of the country. This initiative focuses on:
- Selecting, Branding & Promoting one product
- Identifying, understanding and solving problems associated with each of the chosen products at all points in their respective value chains.
- Improving the market visibility and accessibility of the chosen products, and dedicated handholding of the producers to harness their export potential.
- Strengthen the competitiveness of indigenous products (like handicrafts and handloom) in the global market, various capacity-building initiatives are being undertaken in association with the NID and other experts.
- Conducting Organic Certification workshops for agro-food products to enhance export potential.
- E-commerce on-boarding: On-board quality products on GeM, E-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart.
- The dedicated ODOP Bazaar/Storefront on GeM is enabling all government officials, line ministries, and foreign missions to procure ODOP products for gifting purposes and official use.
- Compilation of verified seller database: which will be used for Buyer-Seller Meets.
- Leveraging State Emporiums for promotion of ODOP products.
It aims to create synergy between the Central and the State Governments to identify a roadmap for ODOP initiative. This platform will also be used to share the knowledge that has been gained by the stakeholders since the inception of the Initiative. The ODOP Gift Catalogue covers products ranging from Fragrance and Essential Oil, Spirits, Tea and Coffee, Gems and Jewellery, Silk and Shawls, Food Products, Home Décor, Paintings, Textiles and Spices. Products in this Catalogue will be available for procurement from the ODOP store in Gem. The ODOP Storefront on GeM will be a transformative step in increasing access to authentic Indian products for government procurement.
