Official logo, flag of WDCA unveiled; Wokha DC lauds progress of cricket in Nagaland

The Official Logo and Flag of the Wokha District Cricket Association (WDCA) were unveiled by Deputy Commissioner and Chairman Wokha District Sports Council, Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS, on Saturday at Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall, Wokha, DIPR informed.

Unveiling the logo and flag the DC congratulated the new team of WDCA office bearers let by Chenithung Humtsoe and expressed hope that under the new team, the association will go a long way in taking forward the ‘gentlemen’s game’ to higher standard. He also stated that it is very encouraging to see that cricket association in in Nagaland is progressing on a positive note by way of promoting and giving platform to the youngsters.

During the programme, Khyolamo Humtsoe highlighted in brief about the concept and how the logo and flag were designed.

The logo and flag were designed by Khyolamo Humtsoe, Suben Ezung, David Shitio and Vishal Diwan.

Deputy Commissioner also felicitated Nzanthung Y Mozhui for becoming the first cricket player from Lotha community to be selected and played for Nagaland cricket team at the Ranji Trophy, and Merayani Kikon for being the first Lotha women to play in a major cricket tournament organised by Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA).

Lotha Eloe Hoho President Thungbeni Ngullie who also spoke during the programme congratulated the two players for their achievement and bringing laurel for our district.

The Wokha District Cricket Association was officially formed and established in the year 1983 and in the same year WDCA participated and emerged as champion in the first Nagaland Saramati Cricket tournament.

Pioneers of WDCA, senior players of the district and well-wishers participated in the unveiling of WDCA logo/flag and felicitation programme.

The programme was chaired by Peter Kikon, while Amos Ezung, V/President WDCA proposed the welcome address, Chenithung Humtsoe President WDCA delivered the vote of thanks.
