Oil tanker carrying 12,000 litres of diesel catches fire at Pfutsero Town

Pfutsero: Fire doused off with timely intervention of Fire Services, Phek Police, 45 Assam Rifles, public of Pfutsero Town

An oil tanker bearing Nagaland registration caught fire on Tuesday after the tanker met with a road accident around 2:30 pm at Mission Ward, Pfutsero Town under Phek district.

As per preliminary reports, the oil tanker loaded with 12,000 litres of diesel was proceeding towards a Kezo Petrol Pump, Pfutsero and the cause of the accident is ascertained to be due to the narrow road and loose soil.

No human casualties has been reported however, one godown storing food items was damaged during the incident.

The police informed that the driver, identified as Bapitra Bora sustained minor injuries and was given medical help and is currently at Pfutsero Police Station for further investigation.

“After efforts for about two hours the fire was doused off with timely intervention of Fire Services Pfutsero, Phek Police, 45 Assam Rifles and public of Pfutsero town,” the police stated adding that further investigation is underway.
