OKM condemns inhuman act against student in Mokokchung

The Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) has strongly condemned the inhuman act committed against a student on September 30, 2025, at Mokokchung Town, allegedly by Sumon Subba (27), son of Jay Bahadur Subba.

In a press statement issued on October 4, the OKM termed the incident as a “barbaric act” that has shaken the community, describing it as a deep disrespect to society. The organization urged the competent authorities to handle the matter with urgency and seriousness to ensure justice for the victim and appropriate legal penalties for the offender.

The OKM asserted that it would not remain a silent spectator to injustice and warned that necessary actions would be taken if the authorities fail to act decisively.

Expressing solidarity with the victim and her family, the OKM reaffirmed that such acts of brutality within the Ongpangkong jurisdiction will not be tolerated under any circumstances. It assured that the matter would be pursued with utmost seriousness and that no stone would be left unturned in seeking accountability. The statement also called upon everyone to refrain from such merciless acts in the future.
