The Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) has expressed complete solidarity with the Chungtia Students’ Union (CSU) over the prolonged delay and alleged poor quality of the ongoing “50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital” project at Sabangya, Mokokchung District.
In a press statement issued Friday, OKM noted that despite a sanctioned amount of ₹442.91 lakhs and work orders issued over six years ago, the construction has achieved only 65 percent progress. It further stated that observable deficiencies in workmanship raise serious questions about structural integrity and potential risks to public safety.
The organization fully endorsed CSU’s demand for immediate suspension of all construction activities until proper quality assessments are conducted. It also supported the call for a Joint Technical Inspection involving departmental technical personnel and comprehensive structural integrity tests such as Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity, Rebound Hammer, and Core Cut Sampling, to be completed within a stipulated 10-day timeframe.

“The people of Mokokchung District deserve a healthcare facility that meets the highest standards of safety and quality. We cannot and will not accept substandard construction that could endanger lives and waste public funds,” OKM stated.
Urging the concerned authorities to respond promptly to CSU’s reasonable demands, the student body insisted on transparency in the inspection process, immediate corrective measures if deficiencies are confirmed, and accountability for delays and quality lapses.
Reaffirming its stand, OKM declared it would continue to closely monitor the situation. “We urge all stakeholders to prioritize public interest and ensure that this vital healthcare infrastructure project is completed to the highest standards without further delay,” the statement read.
