One Chümoukedima: CDFA Futsal tournament begins

Under the theme ‘One Chümoukedima’, the Chümoukedima District Football Association (CDFA) invitational inter-ward and village Futsal tournament and winter carnival 2023 began on December 8 at J. J Arena Ward-8, Chümoukedima. The inaugural event was graced by MLA Kipili Sangtam as the Special Guest.

Commending the CDFA and Chümoukedima Youths for the vibrant sporting initiatives, Sangtam also appreciated the Government and the leadership of CM Neiphiu Rio for taking the state forward in the field of sports.

The MLA also shared his passion for football and adviced the youths to seriously pursue sports as a career as well as to stay healthy.

“To be a sportsperson one must be convinced of the passion and stay discipline to one’s ambition, “ said Sangtam. Further, advising the Youths to abstain from Alcoholism and drug abuse, the MLA said, “You consume anything, but do not consume your life away with drugs and alcohol.”

He also stated that Chümoukedima is an exemplary District with all the communities participating in its growth, further urging the disciplined town and its diverse communities to come together for its progress.

“Today Chümoukedima District just started, tomorrow it will be the torch bearer of the state. Chümoukedima has all the facilities to achieve excellence,” remarked Sangtam assuring the people of Chümoukedima of his commitment and support in uplifting the District in Sports or any other developmental activities.

During the inaugural, Imlisunep Ao, Co-Convenor chaired the event, with a prayer pronounced by K. Viboto Achumi, Youth Pastor, Chekiye village Baptist Church. Convenor Sedevikho Angami delivered the welcome address while a special number was presented by Thejaseno Dolie.

The oathtaking was undertaken by Thangboi Thongsang, Technical Director, CDFA. Altogether, 16 teams from 11 wards under Chümoukedima Town and neighbouring villages including Chekiye, Diphupar, Sovima, Tenyiphe & Medziphema will be participating in the ongoing Tournament.

The tournament has been organised with the objective to scout for young and upcoming local football talents from the grassroots. According to the CDFA, the Tournament will specifically target the wards and villages within the locality of Chümoukedima town and its periphery by providing a competitive and standardized field, which will enhance the level of performance and help in identifying local football talents from the area.
