As part of the Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2025, the Department of Social Welfare under CDPO Wokha Project organised a one-day Anaemia Awareness-cum-Screening Camp on October 4, for adolescent girls at the Urban Health Centre, Wokha, in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare under the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Wokha.

During the programme, Dr. Chonben Ezung, Medical Officer, Wokha, highlighted the importance of health awareness among adolescent girls. He stated that topics such as menstrual hygiene should not be considered taboo but rather discussed openly within communities to promote proper health care.

Dr. Thungrhoni Kikon, Medical Officer, also emphasised the importance of oral hygiene and dental care. She further encouraged the citizens of Wokha to avail themselves of the free dental check-up services available at the Urban Health Centre attached to the CMO office, Wokha.

A note of appreciation was extended to the Chief Medical Officer, Wokha, for collaborating in the event and to the Anganwadi Workers for their coordination and support in mobilising the adolescent girls, which contributed to the success of the programme.

Altogether, 60 adolescent girls underwent anaemia screening, out of which 14 were referred for medical advice due to low haemoglobin levels and 6 were referred for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). As part of the initiative, sanitary pads were also distributed to the adolescent girls by the Department of Social Welfare.
