A fire incident at PWD Colony, Wokha, around 2:21 p.m. on November 20 reduced a kuccha house to ashes and left a firefighter with minor injuries.
Officer-in-Charge of the Fire Station Wokha, Francis Singsit, informed that the station received the first distress call through its helpline at 2:21 p.m. In response, one fire tanker with a team led by Duty Commander Sub-Inspector Thenuosielie Pielie was immediately despatched to the location.
The blaze completely engulfed a kuccha structure, constructed with tin roofing and wooden flooring. Two LPG cylinders are believed to have exploded during the course of the fire, intensifying the flames. The incident also resulted in the loss livestock kept on the premises.
Singsit stated that a short circuit is suspected to have triggered the fire.

While attempting to control the flames, SI Pielie sustained an injury on his left ring finger when struck by a piece of tin. Personnel of Wokha Police Station, along with the Duty Officer, promptly assisted him and rushed him to the hospital, where he received four stitches.
The fire team successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to adjacent structures.
