An Indian Air Force personnel was killed while four others were injured in a terrorist attack in Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday evening.
According to IAF, one of its vehicle convoys was attacked by terrorists near Shahsitar in Poonch district. In a post on X, IAF informed that cordon and search operation was underway in the area by local military units.
In another post, the Air Force stated that after being attacked by terrorists, the Air Warriors fought back by returning fire. In the process, five IAF personnel received bullet injuries, and were evacuated to the nearest military hospital for immediate medical attention.
One Air Warrior succumbed to his injuries later, it added.
Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the Party strongly and unequivocally condemn this dastardly terror attack and join the nation in standing together against terrorism. Expressing condolences to the family of the brave air warrior, he wished for speedy recovery of the injured air warriors.
“India is united for our soldiers”, Kharge stated.
Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma too condemned the cowardly assault on the Indian Air Force convoy by terrorist and wished the injures a swift and complete recovery.
“Those responsible for this atrocious act will face the full force of justice,” he stated.
