One suspect arrested in connection to ANTA office vandalism; Police announces cash reward for information leading to arrest

The Police have arrested one suspected person in connection to a case registered on vandalizing office of the All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) at Old NST area on 17 June, 2023 by unknown miscreants. It has also announced cash awards for information leading to arrests of miscreants.

A press release issued by Kohima Police PRO stated that a case was registered at North PS, Kohima for investigation and during the preliminary investigation, one suspect individual was arrested and forwarded to judicial custody.

“During investigation, it was ascertained that some miscreants had come to the ANTA office out of whom, one entered the chamber of the General Secretary and threatened him at gunpoint,” the Police stated.

It added that through investigation it was also revealed that the assailants took away the memory device called Digital Video Recorder (DVR) used to store the data from the CCTVs installed at the ANTA Office.

The police meanwhile said that it is working on various human leads and technical data to ascertain and apprehend the culprits.

In this connection, the police have asked general public to provide any information leading to identity of the miscreants. “Information leading to their arrest, will be paid cash reward of Rs. 25,000/-. While a cash reward of Rs. 10,000/- will be paid for any information leading to recovery of the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) which was taken away by the miscreants from ANTA Office. The identity of the informant shall be kept confidential.”

Meanwhile, the police also stated that following the intensified anti-extortion drive by Kohima Police, three more individuals from an NNPG have been arrested today. In this regard, a separate probe has also been initiated to ascertain any possible involvement of the arrested persons in this case, the police added.
