Orange Alert in Kohima, Kiphire and Tuensang; Nagaland to experience heavy rainfall in all districts till August 10: NSDMA

In its weather updates, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has warned that Nagaland will experience heavy rainfall in almost all the districts till August 10.

“These showers may be accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places. During this period, extremely heavy rainfall is expected in the districts of Kohima, Kiphire and Tuensang. In these, three districts an Orange alert has been issued for August 7,” informed the NSDMA.

It has urged citizens to take necessary precautionary measures during this time and exercise caution from lightning strikes and gale winds which may cause disruption in communication and connectivity.

“Due to the likelihood of excessive precipitation in the hill sector, Nagaland’s lowland and foothill regions, including Dimapur, Nuiland, Chumukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit, and Tuli, are likely to be impacted by inundated water logging and flash floods,” warned the NSDMA.

In this regard, NSDMA, Home Department has urged the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period.  It also requested all the District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to be on alert to save lives and properties during this monsoon period.
