Orientation for Govt. School heads held in Kohima

A one day orientation for Kohima District Government School Heads was organised by the District Education Office, Kohima on Friday at the SIRD Conference Hall, Kohima.

According to a press release, Emilo Patton, DEO Kohima, delivered the keynote address while Patricia Vizo, Senior SDEO Kohima, welcomed the participants.

Experience sharing sessions were held during which Azinu Swuro, Principal of GHSS Jotsoma, and Keneingu Rutsa, Head Teacher of GMS L. Khel, Kohima, spoke on their respective journeys and insights.

On the occasion, the Academic Excellence Awards for Kohima District were presented. Government Higher Secondary School, Jotsoma, received recognition for producing the topper in HSSLC 2025 (Arts Stream), who secured Rank 1 in Nagaland, and for the Commerce Stream topper who secured Rank 10 in the state. Government Higher Secondary School, Sechu Zubza, was also awarded for producing the Rank 8 state topper in the HSSLC 2025 (Arts Stream). Government Primary School, Kenuozou, was honoured for producing the Topper in the Primary School Leaving Certificate (PSLC) Examination 2024. Government High School, PWD, was recognised for producing the Subject Topper in HSLC 2025 (Electronics), while Government High School, Chandmari, was awarded for the Subject Topper in HSLC 2025 (Automotive).

Schools with 100 percent HSLC Pass Results in 2025 were also honoured, including Government High School, Tasazhu; Government Higher Secondary School, Chiechama; Government High School, Nerhema Model; Government High School, Diki Dihoma; Government High School, Mezoma; and Government Higher Secondary School, Jotsoma.

The award for Best Performing Government School Head in Kohima District for the year 2025 was conferred upon Azinu Swuro, Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Jotsoma. Under her exemplary leadership, GHSS Jotsoma has consistently delivered top academic results for two consecutive years, producing the state topper in the HSSLC in both 2024 and 2025.

Later in the afternoon, technical sessions were held on various topics including ‘Highlights of DMA Activities’, ‘Highlights of NECTAR Project: Capacity Building and Governance Component’, ‘Highlights of EBRCS Activities’, and ‘Highlights of the District Education Office’.
