Orientation program for Tenyidie teachers held on 2nd day of Ura Academy Seminar

Kohima: Dr Shürhozelie calls teaching fraternity language ‘missionary’ who will be the carriers of the knowledge of Tenyidie

The 53rd Ura Academy Seminar entered the second day with an orientation program of Tenyidie teachers at Ura Academy Hall, Mission Compound Kohima.

During the programme, the keynote address was delivered by Kikruneinuo Liezietsu, Jt. Secretary Ura Academy and she stated that as language develops with time, teachers are in dire need to be updated and refreshed as such an orientation program such as this for the teacher will empower language teacher to transact knowledge and play vital role.

Expounding on the theme, “Mother tongue: the power of our thought”, she stated that Mother tongue and multilingualism under NEP 2020 will bring in more prospects to the language perpetuation.

In a brief speech, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, President, Ura Academy called on the teaching fraternity as the language ‘missionary’ who will be the carriers of the knowledge of Tenyidie to the students and masses in general.

The resource person of the day, Dr. Khotole Khieya, Associate Professor, Department of Education, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema spoke on the topic NEP 2020, while Dr. Metseilhouthie Mor, Asst. Professor, Pfütsero Govt. College, Phek presented a technical paper on Grammar and Composition, Word division and literature, Vizonyü Liezietsu spoke on Language Usage.

An intensive discussion was followed regarding Nagaland Heritage Studies and Tenyidie development and perpetuation.

Earlier the program was chaired by Dr. Medongulie Tseikha, President, Ura Academy Rüpfhünuo. Vimedo Keyho, Asst. Professor, Kohima Science College, Kohima read the scripture and said the invocation prayer, a folk tune was sung by Küzüve Kroko and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Keneichanuo Mepfhüo.

On the last day of the seminar, the Tenyidie Kephrünuoko Krotho will be organising competitions on debate, story writing, poetry writing, essay writing competition for the high and higher secondary schools.

Dr. Hovithal Sothu, Project Director, TaFMA will exhort the gatherings in the third session.

While in the culminating program, an award ceremony will be held to honour the meritorious students in the field of Tenyidie and Music in the HSLC, HSSLC and Undergraduate course.
