Oting incident can never be forgotten: NSF

Kohima: NSF President reaffirms stand on non-cooperation with Indian armed forces.

The Naga Students’ Federation remembered the victims of the Oting incident on its second anniversary at the NSF headquarter in Kohima. The members also held a moment of silence to mourn the fourteen Konyak brothers who lost their lives in the unfortunate event.

In the Presidential Address, Medovi Rhi reminded the gathering that on 4th December 2021, fourteen innocent civilians were massacred by the armed forces. “Nagas have forgotten the brutal killings of the Oting incident”, he said, adding that it can never be forgotten. The President of NSF also reaffirmed the stand of the Federation with regard to the non-cooperation extended to Indian armed forces.

In his Solidarity Message, former NSF president and Tribunal General Kegwayhun Tep, reiterated that the incident in Oting village in Mon district where “atrocities and bloodshed were meted out to our brothers by the armed forces” will be remembered and never forgotten. Tep recalled how the Hornbill Festival was put on hold following the incident and said that the seriousness of the issue must be understood.

Tep further highlighted that justice has not been served to the victims and that no action could be taken against the 30 personnel of the Indian armed forces.
