The Orange Festival displayed the celebration of the local culture and produce of the village.

Special Guest Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister of Women’s Resource Development and Horticulture, in her speech mentioned that this was a momentous occasion to celebrate the Orange festival in one of the most progressive Orange producing Village of Nagaland. Kruse acknowledged that the achievement is a result of the dedicated efforts of our farmers.

“As we celebrate today, it is crucial for us to acknowledge that our journey has just begun. The future holds immense potential, and it is our collective responsibility to shape it into one of prosperity and abundance. We must continue to improve our intercultural practices, embracing traditional wisdom while integrating modern techniques to keep pace with the dynamic developments in Horticulture,” stated Kruse.

With Horticulture an ever-evolving field, and to keep pace with the advancements, Kruse expressed that Nagas must adapt and embrace improved technologies.

“Our commitment to excellence requires us to continuously enhance our intercultural practices, incorporating modern techniques that not only increase yields but also promote environmental sustainability,” stated Kruse.

She also viewed that the vision for Rüsoma should extend beyond being just another thriving Orange producing Village. Kruse advocated that the village must aspire for orange farming to become the primary source of livelihood for its farmers in the near future. “This ambitious goal requires a concerted effort from each one of us and it means dedicating ourselves to continuous learning, adopting innovative practices, and staying attuned to the ever-evolving landscape of Horticulture,” asserted Kruse.

With the shared commitment and the support of the Department of Horticulture, the Minister expressed confidence that orange farming will not only sustain the community but will also elevate the livelihoods of every orange farmer in Rüsoma.

“Let us seize this opportunity to build a future where our orchards will contribute significantly to our economic well-being,” expressed Kruse

Stressing on the importance of adapting to new challenges, Kruse opined that Horticulture is an ever-evolving sector, and that “our ability to embrace change will determine our continued success”.

“Together, we will adapt, learn, and continue to build upon the success story that is being written in the orchards of Rusoma.” remarked Kruse.
