The advisory is aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of the public while taking measures to contain the spread of the infection, DIPR stated.
To prevent the spread of Conjunctivitis, the advisory highlights the following key measures:
Frequent Hand Washing and Sanitization: Individuals are advised to maintain proper hand hygiene by washing hands frequently with soap and water. The use of hand sanitizers is also recommended.
Avoid Touching Eyes: It is recommended to avoid touching or rubbing the eyes, as this can contribute to the transmission of the infection.
Avoid Sharing Towels and Handkerchiefs: Sharing personal items like towels and handkerchiefs should be avoided to prevent the spread of the infection.
Clean Eyeglasses: If you wear eyeglasses, it’s recommended to clean them frequently using an alcohol-based disinfectant.
Avoid Swimming Pools: During the outbreak, it’s advisable to refrain from using swimming pools, as the infection can spread in such environments.
Avoid Close Contact: Close contact with individuals who are infected with Conjunctivitis should be avoided to prevent transmission.
The advisory also emphasizes the importance of taking preventive measures within educational institutions. Government and private educational institutions have been directed to monitor the spread of the infection among students.
