The Member Secretary of Political Affairs Committee (PAC), Minister KG Kenye has convened a meeting of the PAC on 28 August, at 11:00 am in the State Banquet Hall.
The meeting circular read, “Two MPs, all the 60 legislators of the 14th House of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, the Political Consultative Committee, Members of NDPP, BJP, NCP, NPP, LJP (RV), NPF, RPI (A), JD (U) and INC are requested to attend the meeting positively.”
As per sources, the PAC meeting is being convened to deliberate on the Indo-Naga Political issue and the demand of Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) for the creation of a Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT).
The new team of ENPO led by its President A Chingmak Chang also met Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday at his official residence in Kohima, informing this the source said, the meeting deliberated at length on ENPO’s demand of FNT and ENPO also urged the State Government to give its comment on FNT to the Ministry of Home Affairs at the earliest however, during the meeting the Chief Minister did not give any time frame of when the State Government will give its comments.
Further, the source said ENPO submitted a representation to the Chief Minister, the details of which was not disclosed.
As reported earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs Committee led by AK Mishra is still awaiting comments from the Nagaland Government on the working draft paper which was handed to the it last year.
The new ENPO team and former President R Tsapikiu Sangtam also held an introductory meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs Committee led by AK. Mishra and Rajesh Kamble, on 13th August 2024 at BSF Patgaon, Azara, Guwahati, Assam.
The marathon meeting deliberated on the status of the proposed Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) and a way forward action plan on the issue.
