Paonglüm Mini Hornbill festival underway at Tuensang

Poanglüm Mini Hornbill festival, organized by Chang Khulei Setshang got underway today at Parade Ground, Tuensang with Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton as the Special Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Y Patton conveyed Poanglüm greetings to the Chang Community and also thanked the community for inviting him to be a part of the Grand celebration. He added that Tuensang is considered as the mini Nagaland where many tribes of the State coexist and stated that Chang Community plays a role in ushering peace and harmony among the communities of the District. Being a historical district one must not forget the rich culture and tradition of the community by observing this kind of festival in the district, he said and also highlighted that the demand of the ENPO has been forwarded to the Government of India.

Other highlights of the festival included welcome address by Chief Host, P Bashangmongba, Minister Housing and Mechanical Engineer; heralding of the festival by Yimkong Simba; theme exposition by W Chingmak, Executive Chairman CKS; Poanglüm voice by Auching and invocation by Rev. Achu Chang ES CBLT.

The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by the Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Village Guard, CL John; Advisor for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Kazheto Kinimi; Advisor for Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, A Pangjung Jamir; MLA, Neiba Konyak; MLA, Lima Onen and MLA, Imtichuba Chang and Host of dignitaries.

The festival was marked by Log Pulling, Cultural Presentation and Indigenous games of Dug of War and Wrestling.
