Parents needs to prioritize investing in their children’s education: Advisor Dr. Kekhrie Yhome addresses 75 years of Chiechama Students’ Union

Advisor for School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrie Yhome today amplified the need for parents to prioritize investing in their children’s education, while speaking at the 75 years celebration of the Chiechama Students Union (CSU).

Themed “Towards a Brighter Future”, the 75 anniversary celebration was held on December 15 at the Chiechama Amphitheater.

Gracing the event as the Chief Guest, Dr. Yhome stressed on the transformative power of education. “It serves as the key to unlocking freedom,” said the Advisor.

Drawing attention towards the literacy challenges faced in today’s educational landscape, Dr. Yhome emphasized the rapidly evolving nature of technology, which has significantly altered the dynamics of teaching, presenting a more formidable task in effectively educating children. Despite acknowledging the prevailing sense of discouragement among students due to limited government job opportunities, he also pointed out the emergence of alternative pathways for achieving success and survival.

Furthermore, he lauded the remarkable achievement of reaching the 75-year milestone, expressing appreciation for Chiechama’s commendable practices and principles. Emphasizing the richness of Naga traditions and practices within a cohesive society, Dr. Yhome acknowledged the diversity of individuals from various backgrounds and communities in their program, highlighting the positive impact of such inter-communal programs as a model to follow.

Vituonyü Victor Dzieyie, Member Secretary Organising Committee, in his greetings  highlighted the history of forming the union. Amidst his speech he  highlighted that in 1948 Lt.Rüsolhoulie Sanchü and Lt. Thinuochülie Rio started the union with Sanchü as Chairman and Rio as Secretary.

Yhome earlier unveiled the jubilee monolith following the blessing by CRC Pastor Chiechama. Mhalezolie Metha, President Chiechama Village Council, Atouzo Kerhuo, President Northern Angami Students U nion(NASU) and David Mere, President, Angami Students Union (ASU) also greeted the gathering.

Thepfuneizo Metha, President CSU along with Vituonyü Victor Dzeyie, delivered an inspiring welcome address, emphasizing the importance of embracing a challenging theme and collectively striving for a brighter future characterized by honesty, integrity, and hard work. He emphasized the significance of cultivating good habits to ensure a positive future. Additionally, he urged everyone to commemorate  the jubilee as an opportunity for forgiveness and mutual guidance toward a brighter future. Artists Neilakuonuo Metha, Vikhrienuo Mere, Thejakhrielie Rio, and Khriezohu Rüpreo captivated the audience with their melodious rendition of “Ara chiechama,” filling the hall with their enchanting voices.

The program was blessed with invocation by Rev. Fr. Dr. Keduolhou George Dzeyie Principal, St. Joseph College (Autonomous), Jakhama and benediction by Rev. Soneiu Metha Pastor, Baptist Church Chiechama.
