Pastor assaulted by NSCN-K(Khango) cadre in Naukhuti town, LSU condemns

The Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) has condemned the incident that occurred in Naukhuti Town on August 24 where a cadre of National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Khango) faction physically assaulted a pastor.

“It has come to the attention of the office that Akhekevi S/o Ahovi of Kiyezhu B village a cadre of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Khango) faction brutally assualted Mr. Rhanlamo Kikon, pastor of the Yanpha Baptist Church with deliberate and premeditated attack involving a point-blank pistol firing with the explicit intend of murder, without any indefinite reason,” stated the LSU in a press release issued on August 25.

Condemning the assault, the LSU expressed that the act not only violated the fundamental rights and dignity of the victim but also reflected a grave disregard for the well-being of a spiritual leader.

“For, every individual deserves to live in an environment free from fear, exploitation, and harm, and any form of abuse against one is utterly reprehensive,” stated the Union. It demanded the concerned authorities to take the issue on a serious note and award a befitting punishment to the culprit at the earliest. The Union further called for measures to be put in place to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

“The LSU appeals the NSCN/GPRN (Khango) faction not to enroll vis-a-vas disown such unpatriotic and mentally ill Anti-Naga individuals who are self-vested in act of terrorism and doesn’t understand the notion of ‘Nagaland for Christ’ in its crusade for self-determination,” stated the LSU.

The LSU also demanded the NSCN/GPRN (Khango) faction to condem the barbaric act and enforce policy to eradicate such heinous deeds by a cadre in the name of the government and further tarnished the image of the faction. “The office will be left with no other option but to move non-cooperation towards the NSCN/GPRN (Khango),” warned the LSU.

The LSU also expressed Its solidarity and empathy to the victim Rhanlamo Kikon and pledge their unwavering support in their pursuit of justice and recovery from the trauma inflicted.

“The LSU also urge all right-thinking citizens to join us in condemning this atrocity and demand accountability from those responsible,” appealed the LSU.
