Patton inaugurates SDPO (Ex-Officio) office at Pungro

In a significant move to enhance law enforcement capabilities and public service delivery in the Kiphire district, Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland and Minister for Home & Border Affairs, Yanthungo Patton today inaugurated the Office of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Ex-Officio) at Pungro. The inauguration ceremony was held at the SDPO Office premises.

The newly established facility is expected to strengthen policing infrastructure, improve coordination among law enforcement agencies, and ensure swift, accessible, and efficient responses to public needs.

The event was graced by S Kiusumew Yimchunger, MLA & Advisor, Home Guard & Civil Defence, Fire & Emergency Services, Relief & Rehabilitation as the Guest of Honour.

The programme began with a Guard of Honour and unveiling of a monolith by the Special Guest, followed by the order of events which included invocation, welcome remarks, short speeches by key dignitaries, cultural performances, and closing remarks.

Among the distinguished attendees were Videlaile Zashumo, IPS, Inspector General of Police (ADM); Temsuwati Longkumer, Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire; Chinese Chakhesang, NPS, Superintendent of Police, Kiphire; Disani Newmai, Addl. SP, Kiphire; Makezho, Executive Chairman, Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC); Nelizho Tep, ADC Pungro; Khrusuothu Nyuthe, Commandant, 14th IRB; and former Minister V Kashiho Sangtam.

Speaking at the occasion, Patton commended the collective efforts of all stakeholders in making the project a reality, stressing that the office would greatly benefit the people of the district by ensuring law and order, security, and public trust.

On the sidelines of the inauguration, the Deputy Chief Minister also attended a public meeting in Pungro, where he engaged with local stakeholders and listened to their concerns and suggestions.

The programme concluded with a folk song performance by Yimkhiung Liperü Arih Ako, followed by lunch for all attendees.
