PDFL: Puiteing FC reclaim top spot; Barak FA, Lekie Mtei FC; Prime FC holds Native Feathers

Puiteing FC have reclaimed the top spot of the first Peren District Football League (PDFL) points table organized by Peren District Football Association (PDFA) after stunning Nsong Area Sports Association (NASA) 7-1 at Jalukie ‘B’ village ground on Friday.

Barak Football Academy, Lekie Mtei FC also won their respective matches while Native Feathers shared points with Prime FC.

Here are the match highlights.

Puiteing FC vs NASA

Puiteing FC reclaimed the top spot with a comfortable win over NASA. Putiteing FC opened its account in the 21st minute through the boots of Kawijibo, who also scored the third goal in the 43rd minute. Dominant Puiteing then added another goal in the 23rd minute through Jangminlen.

The first half ended in 3-0. After the breather, Wibonjibou of Puiteing FC struck again in the 51st minute which was then added by Kawililakbou in the 59th minute. Struggling NASA found the back of the net through the boots of Ningteu in the 70th minute, which was the lone goal for the team.

NASA converted its own goal in the 90th minute. The seventh goal for Puiteing FC was scored by senior star player Lamrai in the added time.

Barak FC vs Benreu FC

In the first match, Barak FA defeated Benreu FC 3-1. The first half was a highly contested game where both the teams looked for opportunities to open their accounts. Just before the final whistle of the first half, Namdonbo of Barak FA drew the first blood in the 44th minute making it 1-0.

Fighting back, Benreu FC found the equalizer through the boots of Rangrangbe in the 54th minute. Later in the 81st and 84th minute, Suraibo and Namdonbo of Barak FA scored the third and fourth goals respectively, which were enough to seal the victory.

Yellow cards were awarded to Digumpeung and Heizaizeung of Benreu FC for unsporting behaviour. Barak FA now stands at the second spot in the PDFL points table behind Puiteing FC.

Lekie Mtei FC vs NZSA

In the second match, Lekie Mtei FC downed Northern Zeme Sports Association (NZSA) 2-1. Fourth minute into the game, NZSA suffered its own goal through a free kick from Hainsiugongbe of Lekie FC.

The equalizer for NZSA came in the 15th minute of the game through the boots of Ziepwa. Both the teams made several attempts to find the back of the net but failed to make any breakthrough till the first half.

In the second half, Paulinlung of Lekie Mtei FC found the back of the net in the 52nd minute to lead by a goal.

Both the teams missed several chances to score and NZSA had to concede a defeat. Ilialungbo of Lekie Mtei FC was cautioned for unsporting behaviour.

Lekie Mtei FC now sit at the fourth spot in the league points table, hopeful to book the top four berth.

Native Feathers vs Prime FC

In the fourth match, Native Feathers and Prime FC played out a goalless draw 0-0. The two teams displayed their spirited effort but both missed several opportunities to convert it into a goal.

In a thriller, Prime FC and Native Feathers gave no chances for their opponent to find the back of the net. Both the teams however, hit the crossbar but failed to make any breakthrough and shared a point each.

Native Feathers now stands in the third spot of the table with Prime FC in the fifth keeping their hope for top four spot alive.
