PDFL: Puiteing FC to face Native Feathers in finals

Peren: In the semi-finals, Puiteing FC defeated Lekie Mtei FC 2-0 while Native Feathers FC beat Barak FA 2-1

Puiteing FC and Native Feathers have progressed to the finals of the ongoing Peren District Football League (PDFL) 2022 after winning their respective semi-final matches on Friday at Jalukie ‘B’ village ground.

The first ever PDFL is organised by the Peren District Football Association (PDFA).

The league matches had ended last week where Puiteing FC emerged as the Peren District Football League (PDFL) champions.

After the first semi-final match, a short programme was held for distribution of prize for the league champion. Puiteing FC walked away with a cash award of Rs 1 lakh and a trophy.

The top four teams of the league are vying for the Peren District Football Association (PDFA) cup title. The semi-finals were played on Friday.

Puiteing FC will take on Native Feathers in the final match for the Peren District Football Association (PDFA) cup title on Saturday.

Puiteing FC vs Lekie Mtei

Playing the first semi-final match, Puiteing FC defeated Lekie Mtei FC 2-0 and booked their berth for the final.

The first half of the game was entirely dominated by Lekie Mtei FC; however, they missed several chances created by the midfielders and failed to make any breakthrough.

In the second half, Paolenngam struck twice and put Puiteing FC to lead in the 73rd and 85th minute of the game which was enough to seal the deal. Lekie Mtei FC fought back to find the equaliser but the mighty Puiteing FC made no mistakes and defended its opponent from scoring.

The first semi-final match was graced by ADC Peren Keyirangding Hegui as the match patron.

Native Feathers FC vs Barak FA

In the second semi-final match, Native Feathers FC beat Barak FA 2-1 and secured their birth for the finals. Barak FA pressed on the Native Feathers’ danger area in the first minutes of the game which consequently paid off through the boots of Dihube in the 24th minute. Native Feathers continued trying to find the equaliser but failed in the first half.

After a stoppage time, Khiuwangbo Kaurintah of Native Feathers scored through a spot kick in the 59th minute. While both the teams tried to convert the opportunities, Khiuwangbo Kaurintah then put Native Feathers in the lead in the 75th minute through a long shot from zero angle making it 2-1. Barak FA had to concede a defeat as it failed find the equaliser in the stipulated time.

The match patron for the second semi-final match was ADC Jalukie, T L Kiusumong Tikhir.
