Wokha: Personality development, spiritual life key to overcome failures and hurdles in life, prevent suicide, says speaker

The Penalty Mergents won the Penalty Shootout Championship organised by Tchüphyangza Baptist church (TBC) Youth Department under the theme “Shootout Suicide” on 20 January 2024 at Mount Tiyi College Ground, Wokha.
Mokol FC and Cricket Lovers came in the second and third places. 26 teams had participated in the Penalty Shootout in Wokha. Two women teams – Sirens FC and TBE CNY1 – also took part in the competition.
Young Star (under 11) won The Youngest Team award. Abeno (Mastermind FC) was awarded for scoring the First Goal and Benri Tungoe (Mokol FC) was adjudged the Best Keeper.
On the occasion, theme speaker, Dr Libemo Kithan, Associate Professor, MTC, Wokha spoke on Emile Durkheim’s ‘Theory of Suicide’ and discussed the contributing factors as well as the preventive steps to avoid suicide. He emphasised personality development and spiritual life as the key to overcome failures and hurdles in life.


Offering his expertise, he also advised the youth to set multiple goals in order to cultivate mental stability and lead an adventurous life. Dr Kithan also stressed for collective role to focus on the challenges presented by suicidal behavior in our society.
A pledge was declared to win over suicide through Christ and uphold the value of one’s precious life. Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Rev A Kithan.
