Furthermore, Keditsu emphasized the need to overcome cultural cringe and encouraged Nagas to be proud of their literary traditions and to create their own literary culture that reflects their unique experiences and perspectives.
Keditsu also spoke about the lack of literary books written by Naga men and expressed the importance of men sharing their voices and thoughts. She encouraged Naga men to start writing and contribute to the literary landscape, as their perspectives are valuable and deserve to be heard.
Guest of Honour EAC, Kohima Dr Riku Khutso, NCS, in his short speech, emphasized the importance of seizing opportunities and not being complacent or lethargic in pursuing one’s passion. He highlighted the struggles faced by the young Nagas in terms of low self-esteem and the tendency to kill their own passion. He urged the youth to overcome these challenges and take life seriously. He mentioned the ex-CEO of Alibaba Jack Ma as an example, where a single trip to the US transformed his life.
Khutso also acknowledged that places like Kohima can be both a hub for positive and negative influences and exhorted the youth to be smart and discerning in their choices, as lazy and hardworking individuals can co-exist in such environments.
He resonated with the youth, inspiring them to take charge of their lives and strive for success. Khutso further emphasized the importance of finding one’s passion and reflecting on one’s personal life and urged the audience to look beyond their current circumstances and think about their future.
Pointing out that many young people use civil services as an excuse to waste time, he encouraged them to identify societal gaps and develop their passion around them. “We have control over our own story and it would be unfair to not utilize our God-given talent,” he said while also urging the audience to stay committed, productive, and contribute to society so that others can celebrate their work and be inspired by it.
Runshito Lim, in his speech, mentioned that this was his second book and shared how he never gave up on his passion despite of the dissuasions.
He described “Kindling Killing Passion – My World in Three Syllables: Poetry” as an amalgam of poetry filled with diverse waves of emotions and feelings. Runshito Lim said that there are multitudes of passion in everyone when they young but with time, those passions die and the reason lies deep within all of us. “It’s time to battle your own battles and turn those passions and dreams into reality,” the author said.
