A Mega Job Awareness Fair & Career Orientation programme was organised at St Xavier College Jalukie in Peren district on Wednesday by the Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (N) in collaboration with Kaziranga University and Peren District Skill Committee. The aim of the programme was to promote various skill development initiatives and educate the youth about soft skills necessary to emerge in any field, augment entrepreneurship at local level and provide job opportunities within district, the Assam Rifles informed.
The event was inaugurated by Dr Prabhat Kumar, IFS, District Forest Officer Peren in the presence of Bobby Roy, Dean, Kaziranga University, Abhijeet Bhardwaj, Manager, Kaziranga University and other dignitaries.
Kumar, in his address, highlighted various skill development initiatives being undertaken by various government and non-governmental organisations for local youths and how benefits could be reaped out of such fairs. He insisted students to follow their passions which can actually be transformed into valuable skills.

The Assam Rifles personnel briefed on various entry schemes in the Forces and shared valuable insights on how to develop and maintain the essential qualities to be nurtured for becoming a soldier.
The Fair themed ‘Building Youth for the Nation’ was attended by around 720 youths and students from various local schools and colleges, youth and students’ unions from far flung villages of Peren district.
The fair was organised with the sole objective of raising awareness on how various job opportunities across all platforms require not just educational qualifications but also refined soft skills where standards are rising on an everyday basis, the AR stated.
Various walk-in kiosks were set up to further highlight qualification requirements and skill-based training being provided from military recruitment to craft-based entrepreneurship and improve the understanding of marketing strategy and generate awareness on broader marketplace conditions for the rural populace and to generate sustainable entrepreneurship opportunities among the village communities, it further said.
