The monthly meeting of the Peren District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) for the month of November was held at DC’s Conference Hall, Peren, on November 7 under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman, DPDB Peren, Hiazu Meru.
Welcoming all the members and special invitees, DC extended a warm welcome to the special team from Pro Rural, an NGO. He mentioned that since November is a month filled with various social and community events, many officers were unable to attend the meeting. He therefore urged all Heads of Offices (HoOs) to ensure their attendance in the next meeting, where important agendas related to the upcoming Unity Mini Hornbill Festival will be discussed.
On behalf of the DPDB members, the DC also congratulated Er Bursenla Ao, Executive Engineer (PHED), Peren, on her promotion.
Reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the DC informed that financial assistance had been extended to the adopted schools to organize programmes under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan on drug and substance abuse. Inputs were also gathered from the concerned officers on the progress of these initiatives.
The meeting further reviewed activities undertaken under the adoption of colleges, including the formation of a Girls’ Pipe Band at Peren Government College.
The Board also deliberated on the preparations for the upcoming Inter-Departmental Tournament. The DC suggested that from next year onwards, the event be scheduled during the months of September or October to ensure maximum participation from government employees posted in the district.

Highlighting the preparations for the Unity Mini Hornbill Festival, DC Meru expressed satisfaction over the active cooperation and support extended by all tribal bodies. Departmental work distribution related to the festival was also finalized during the meeting.
The DC further appreciated the departments for regularly carrying out monthly social works within their respective office premises and surroundings, noting that such practices help maintain cleanliness during major events. He encouraged all departments to continue the good practice consistently.
Regarding construction activities, the DC reminded all departments to obtain prior permission from the District Administration before undertaking any construction works, emphasizing the need to adhere to the district master plan.
During the meeting, the Principal of Peren Government College, Dr T Jamedi Longkumer, presented the agenda proposing the introduction of Sociology as a new subject in the college. After deliberation, the house unanimously approved the proposal and resolved to forward it to the government for necessary action.
The house also discussed an application for financial assistance to renovate the drainage and retaining wall of the Peren Town Local Ground. After considering the views and suggestions of the members present, the house decided to recommend the proposal.
Another agenda taken up was the registration of the Tesen Baptist Churches School Society, which the house approved without further deliberation.
A PowerPoint presentation highlighting the activities of Pro Rural under Peren District, covering sectors such as Agriculture, Health and Skills, was presented by Kiusang S. Tikhir, Agriculture Expert, Pro Rural in the meeting.
For the next DPDB meeting, the DC has assigned the District Industries Centre (DIC), Peren, to present a PowerPoint presentation on their departmental activities.
