The monthly meeting of the Peren District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) was convened on July 18, 2023, at the DC’s Conference Hall in Peren under the Chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang, who also serves as the Chairman of DPDB Peren.
During the meeting, the board approved the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) Schemes, including common pool and iconic projects, for 6 Tening A/C and 7 Peren A/C. Additionally, the board recommended proposals for various projects, including the establishment of a Fire Station at Peren Town, the opening of Genesis School at Jalukie, the upgradation of Police Outpost Heningkunglwa to Police Station, and the renovation of ADC Headquarters at Peren Town.
Discussions also revolved around the re-constitution of the Boundary Committee for the New District Headquarters, and the board agreed to re-constitute the committee with the DC Peren as the Chairman. The meeting further deliberated on the upgradation of Government High School Heningkunglwa to Higher Secondary status, and the board entrusted the District Education Officer (DEO) Peren with preparing a detailed report for submission at the next meeting.

The meeting featured presentations by the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) and Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) through PowerPoint, providing insights into their respective activities. For the upcoming meeting, the Tourism Department and District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) were assigned to deliver their departmental presentations.
In his concluding remarks, Dy. CM T.R. Zeliang emphasized the importance of maintaining proper attendance records during DPDB meetings and urged members to be regular in attendance as crucial district matters are discussed during these gatherings.
Separately, a felicitation program was organized by DPDB Peren at the Conference Hall to honor the Peren District Badminton Association Team for their outstanding performance in the Li-Ning 45th Inter District & State Open Badminton Championship 2023 held in Kohima, where they emerged as the overall champions. The Deputy Chief minister, T.R. Zeliang, delivered words of appreciation during the program, celebrating the achievements of the talented badminton players from Peren District.
