The monthly meeting of the District Planning & Development Board (DPDB), Peren was held on January 12 at DC’s Conference Hall, Peren, informed the DIPR. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Vice-chairman, DPDB Peren, Vineet Kumar, IAS.
The meeting commenced with the review of the previous meeting minutes followed by deliberation on shifting of Peren Government College where the Principal, Dr. Phyobenthung briefed the house on the current status of the college. The DC said that a committee headed by ADC Peren will be formed to look into the matter.
Vineet Kumar emphasized on the importance of regular attendance of officers and staff in order to ensure smooth functioning of offices. He further mentioned that attendance would be strictly monitored and stringent action would be initiated against those irregular officers and staff.

Speaking on the agenda of fire safety measures in the meeting, OC F&ES, Miyeihosul Neikha highlighted the wildfire incident which occurred last year in Peren Town as well as the challenges faced in some areas by the fire personnel while trying to mitigate the fire incidences. In this connection, the DC said a circular will be issued to all the departments to clear the periphery of their respective office premises and quarters.
The house also decided to grant the application for taxi permits submitted by Heigang and Keyihapeung, which will ply from Peren Town to District Headquarter and Peren Govt. College New Site respectively.
During the meeting, the board also agreed to recommend the proposal for registration of society, Makaam Dimphuam Foundation which has been involved in carrying out various activities for the welfare of the society. Work distribution pertaining to the forthcoming Republic Day celebration was also discussed, and further the house has agreed to conduct a mass social work on January 24.
