The Lalong Students’ Union of Peren District has written to the Sub Divisional Education Officer Tening, Nagaland urging action against the Head Teacher of Government Middle School, Lalong who it accused of failing to fulfil in carrying out the duties as head of the school.
In Saturday’s complaint letter, K Iramlung, President of LSU, mentioned that the HT was “operating the School Bank Account at his discretion, without informing the School Management Committee (SMC) and Village Council, despite their initial concerns.” LSU accused the HT of misusing the school funds and informed that it had requested for an “audit from 2022 until 25th Sept 2023, to be provided by 6th Oct 2023” which was ignored.
Further, the Union claimed that reports of HT of GMS Lalong selling PM POSHAN supplies “like rice bags” had reached its office. The students’ body stated that it had taken up the matter with the SMC as well as the HT but no action has been taken. “.. the Union is ready to take this matter to the Principal Director as it is totally against the norms and the Law,” it added.

Furthermore, Lalong Students’ Union highlighted that the HT had appointed a new cook after removing the senior most cook of the school without consulting the School Management Committee (SMC) and Village Council.
The Union expressed faith that the SDEO Tening will intervene and take immediate steps to resolve the issues in the interest of the students and people of Lalong.
