Peren: Villagers and AR personnel partake in Tree Plantation and Cleanliness Drive at Tepun

The Jalukie Battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a tree plantation and cleanliness drive at Tepun Village in Peren district on Wednesday. AR informed that the drive was initiated as part of its effort to promote environmental sustainability and cleanliness in the area.

The tree plantation drive was aimed at replenishing the depleting green cover in the area and promoting the importance of afforestation for biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation, the AR added.

Villagers and Army personnel participated in the programme and planted a variety of tree species, including indigenous ones, to ensure the ecological balance of the region is maintained.

The event emphasized the need to protect and preserve the natural resources of Nagaland, which is known for its rich biodiversity.

The soldiers and villagers also cleaned up the streets and public areas of Tepun Village with a focus on creating a greener and cleaner environment for the local community, it said.  The event aimed to create awareness about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in maintaining a healthy environment and preventing the spread of diseases.

The villagers of Tepun expressed their gratitude to the Jalukie Battalion for organizing the tree plantation and cleanliness drive, and for their commitment to environmental protection. They pledged to take forward the message of conservation and cleanliness in their daily lives and work towards building a greener and cleaner community.

The Assam Rifles further said that the event was a resounding success, with over 20 trees planted and the surroundings of Tepun Village cleaned up.

The Jalukie Battalion reiterated its commitment to continue organizing such initiatives in the future, in line with its mission to contribute to the welfare of the local communities and protect the natural environment.
