The Peshu Students’ Union (PSU) reached a historic milestone as it celebrated its 25th Anniversary on January 12 at Peshu village, Noklak. The momentous occasion was graced by MLA & Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports and Chairman DPDB Shamator, S Keoshu Yimkhiung as the Special Guest.
Addressing the gathering of students and community members, the Advisor, S Keoshu Yimkhiung emphasized a shift in how the youth perceive physical activities. He pointed out that sports should no longer be viewed merely as a “fun activity” or a hobby, but as a professional pathway.
Yimkhiung encouraged the gathering to find hidden talents, polish them with dedication, and pursue them as a career. He highlighted that the modern sports industry offers vast opportunities and can pave the way for a successful future, provided the youth remain disciplined and focused on their craft.

As the Chairman of DPDB Shamator, he also noted the importance of the region’s growth through its youth. He challenged the PSU members to use this 25th anniversary milestone as a launching pad for excellence, not just in academics, but in the arena of sports and physical resources.
Congratulating the union for 25 years of service to the student community, MLA, and General Secretary, Nagaland Football Association, Chairman, Governing Body NSL, Benei M Lamthiu lauded their initiative in giving importance to sports. Addressing the athletes and youth, he emphasized that sports are a vital tool for community building. He encouraged the players to maintain the highest standards of fair play and to compete in a spirit of unity, reminding them that the disciplined learned on the field is essential for achieving life goals.
Before the formal session began, the ceremony was marked by the solemn unveiling of the Jubilee Monolith. This was followed by the hoisting of the flag, a moment of pride for the Peshu Students’ Union as they celebrated their milestone 25-year anniversary.
The Silver Jubilee celebration was attended by various village elders, student leaders and delegates, marking a quarter-century of the Union’s commitment to the student community of Peshu.
