Following the decision of the Election Commission of India in favour of Ajit Pawar led Nationalist Congress Party, the Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly has dismissed the petition to disqualify seven NCP Members of Legislative Assembly in Nagaland.
The EC had earlier on 6th February declared that Ajit Pawar’s faction as the real NCP, giving it the rights to the party and its clock symbol while delivering a major blow to his uncle and founder of the NCP, Sharad Pawar.

The seven Nagaland NCP MLAs are:
1. Er. Picto Shohe, 32- Atoizu A/C
2. P. Longon, 56 Noklak A/C
3. Namri Nchang, 6 Tening A/C
4. Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, 38 Wokha A/C
5. S. Toiho Yeptho, 33 Suruhoto A/C
6. Y Mankhao Konyak, 46 Mon Town A/C
7. A. Pongshi Phom, 50 Longleng A/C

The Sharad Pawar led NCP had earlier in August sought the disqualification of these MLAs for anti-party activities after they pledged support to Ajit Pawar when he joined the Shiv Sena-BJP government in Maharashtra in July end.
NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer stated that based on the EC’s decision, “supporting the legitimate leader of the Political Party of NCP will not amount to anti -party activities nor voluntarily giving up membership of the NCP party. As such to proceed further in the Case will be futile being infructuous.”
