Pharmacies in Mokokchung directed to install CCTV cameras

Mokokchung: Government and Private Schools/Colleges operating under Mokokchung district to install CCTV cameras in the school premises/classrooms to combat substance abuse

Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS has directed all Pharmacies/Medical Stores selling drugs mentioned under Schedule ‘X’ ‘H’ and ‘HI’ within Mokokchung district to install CCTV cameras.

The strategic intervention is part of the Joint Action Plan adopted by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) for the Protection of Child Rights and combating substance abuse among children.

The medical shops were directed to install the cameras within two months. Further, they must maintain proper recording and storage of minimum Two months data. Footage of the CCTV cameras would be regularly checked by the District Drug Controller Authority/District Enforcement Force, Mokokchung.

Pharmacies have been ordered to sell drugs falling under the Schedule ‘X’ ‘H’ and ‘HI’ only on the prescription of a Registered Medical Practitioner and only the amount specified in the prescription. The sale of the above mentioned Drugs shall be recorded in a separate register, mentioning the name and address of the prescriber, patient and the drug, the quantity sold and such record shall be maintained for three years and shall be open for inspection, the DC’s order stated.

The DC also issued an advisory to all concerned, especially the Heads of Institutions/Administrators/Proprietors of Government and Private Schools/Colleges operating under Mokokchung district to install CCTV cameras in the school premises/classrooms to ensure that the use of substance (Tobacco/Alcohol/Drugs) by the children in the school premises is strictly prevented. The District Child Protection Unit, Mokokchung shall conduct random checking of the footages of the installed CCTVs, he said.
