Phek DC, DEO calls on youth to exercise precious voting rights on National Voters’ Day

Phek: District PwDs Icon calls upon all to break barrier so that no one is left behind to vote

The 14th National Voters’ Day under the theme ‘Nothing like Voting, I vote for Sure’ was held at the DPDB Hall, DC Office Complex, Phek on the 25th January 2024, DIPR has informed.

Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Phek, Kuko Mero who graced the programme as the special guest in his address said that it is a day to introspect and called upon the young voters to exercise their voting right as they make up 65 per cent of the total voters. Mero also urged them not to misuse their votes as it was precious to choose leaders and bring development. The Deputy Commissioner notified that the Election Commission is trying its best to do away with malpractices taking place during elections and also trying to keep a clean electoral roll. He later distributed the EPIC to first time voters.

Vethozo Lohe, IFA World Arm Wrestling Champion who spoke on behalf of all voters said a person becomes a responsible member of the society as they turn 18 years old and encouraged the youths to exercise their franchise as they play a significant role in nation building.

Mutuvolu Chizo called upon the new voters that the right to vote is a powerful tool and each vote is a voice for progress and architect of the nation. She also called upon the youths to be active participant as it contributes to the vibrant of the nation.

District PwDs Icon, Khriesangoyi Dozo said voting right is a powerful tool to shape the destiny of the nation and called upon all to break the barrier so that no one is left behind to vote.

Rev Nuvosal, Pastor BHBC Phek also highlighted on the importance of ‘Clean Election’ and Words of Encouragement was delivered by SP Phek Dr. Pritpal Kaur, IPS.

During the programme, Additional Deputy Commissioner Phek, Ruopfukuotuo Noudi, NCS administered the Voters’ Pledge and SP Phek Dr. Pritpal Kaur, IPS gave away the Best BLO Awards to five BLOs from 5 Assembly Constituencies under Phek district. NVD Photo Booth and EVM Booth demonstration was also conducted.
