‘Phek Flavours’, a women-led brand initiated by Superintendent of Police, Phek, Dr. Pritpal Kaur, IPS was officially launched on March 8, 2025, at Phek Police Church in celebration of International Women’s Day.
The event was graced by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Head of KVK Phek, EAC Imna Walling, district administration officials, and members of various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under women VDB Hovekholu from Phek.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Pritpal Kaur emphasized that the initiative aims to create a self-sustaining model, where trained SHG women will pass on their skills to other SHGs, school dropouts, and women in need of rehabilitation (including victims of crimes). She highlighted that economic independence for women will contribute to the growth of the village economy, fostering a peaceful and prosperous society.
A press release informed that the initiative began two months ago with training sessions focused on utilizing local fruits and vegetables for value-added products by NTTC. As a result, 30 women farmers and SHG members have started producing juices, pickles, jams, chips, and herbal powders with innovative flavours. The women have been divided into teams handling processing, packaging, and marketing to ensure smooth operations.
Their products will also be showcased at the Kisaan Mela stall at KVK Porba on March 19, 2025, providing a platform for wider recognition and sales.
Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Head of KVK Phek, delivered a presentation on the role of women in agriculture and marketing strategies, offering insights into expanding market reach for their products.
The program was chaired by Wazote Akami, Youth Director of PBC, and saw the participation of the Police Family Welfare Team, staff, and village SHG members.
