The Department of Political Science under the guidance of Assistant Professor and HOD, Ronald Difoe Dimasa and Assistant Professor Nivi Achumi undertook an academic field study under the New Education Policy on the paper “Democratic Awareness and Legal Literacy” by visiting the District and Sessions Judge of the District Court, Phek and Phek Police station on September 29.

An open-ended interactive session was conducted with Judge Neiko Akami whereby he encouraged the students to take up law and encouraged them to be a responsible citizen. He also briefed the students of Phek Government College on matters of legal proceedings and how both civil and criminal cases are becoming very rampant in Phek.
The students were able to witness the court proceedings as well. Resource Person Vetho Vero briefed the students on a series of themes on law, constitution, legal aid, IPC, CrPc, Mahila courts, POCSO Act. This was followed by a visit to Phek Police Station where Sosang Jamir, SDPO, Phek updated the students on the procedures of filing an FIR at the police station in the presence of Additional SP Bendang Jamir.
The field study cum exposure trip was organised by the Phek Government College under the Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) to familiarise students on different government institutions and functions in the district.
