The Press Information Bureau (PIB), Kohima organized a press conference at the Kohima Press Club office today providing media professionals with key details about the upcoming World Audio-Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025.The global event is scheduled to take place in Mumbai from May 1-4, 2025.
Sonikumar Singh, Assistant Director, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (PIB Kohima), highlighted India’s growing influence in the audio-visual and entertainment sector on the world stage. He described WAVES 2025 as a premier international summit aimed at driving innovation, collaboration, and growth in media, entertainment, and emerging technologies,with a special focus on animation, visual effects (VFX), gaming, and extended reality (XR).
Key Objectives of WAVES 2025
– Position India as a global hub for the AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality) industry.
– Foster talent development, entrepreneurship, and international partnerships.
– Provide a networking platform for creators, industry leaders, investors, and policymakers.
The event, supported by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting,will bring together stakeholders from film, television, OTT, animation, gaming, and immersive technology sectors. Notable sessions include:

The Assistant Director emphasized that WAVES 2025 will serve as a game-changing opportunity for Indian creators, producers, and cultural ambassadors to connect with global players and explore new avenues in the entertainment industry.
Singh further encouraged aspiring talents from Nagaland and the North East to actively participate and leverage the platform to connect with industry leaders and global audiences. The Assistant Director also urged the local media to spread awareness about WAVES 2025, stressing the importance of increased representation from the North East’s vibrant creative community at national and international forums.
With participation from multiple countries ,the summit is set to be a landmark event ,reinforcing India’s leadership in the evolving digital entertainment landscape.
